The driver of a chauffeur-driven transport car (VTC) is a professional whose activity consists of transporting persons and their luggage with advance reservations using a vehicle with at least four and no more than nine seats, including that driver.

A VTC driver, meaning Passenger Vehicle with Driver or Transport Car with Driver, offers the same services as taxis. Registration in the VTC register is mandatory to carry out the activity of VTC operator and must be renewed every 5 years.

Unlike a taxi, where the driver may be focused solely on getting you from point A to point B as quickly as possible, a chauffeur is dedicated to providing a comfortable and luxurious experience. Many chauffeur companies try and allocate the same driver when possible, so you may even get to know your driver too.

VTC is the spanish acronym for a private hire vehicle. According to spanish regulations, they are defined because the passenger decides the starting and end points of her trip (unlike other transportation services like buses, for example).
